James and Britt got married at his parents’ farm although this farm house was more visited when he was young. But the backdrop of this wedding is stunning! We would LOVE to be a part of country backyard wedding like this! I love the maid of honour’s speech on her memory of first time meeting James. It was a Saturday morning and she was awakened by the sound of vacuum. Who the heck vacuumed at 8:00AM on a Saturday morning?! Britt did! And she was singing as well. Later in the afternoon, she shared that James will be picking her up for a date that night (and that explains the vacuuming!). They all knew from that first date that James is staying, for life. Toronto Wedding: Natasha and Shir

Elyse and Derek had planned their wedding to be at the end of January with hope that the sky would open up the day before and covered the ground with snow. Every hope and wishes came true and we all got to create these beautiful imageries for them to cherish. Not just for them but for their families and generations. This Hamilton winter wedding is definitely a winter wonderland one and we have had floods of winter wedding inquiries since posting a few of these photos on Facebook and Instagram.

We will absolutely entertain the idea of shooting in the coldest and the hottest weather possible but at the end of the day, the couples are the ones who made the images. Elyse and Derek are one of the toughest and we have to salute them for enduring the cold and kept pushing so we got to spend the extra 2 minutes to get a particular photo that we saw would happen if they made that extra walk and willingly made one extra round to another park to get a landscape image that is so canvas worthy (but with a windchill that the four of us hope would not have to go through again ha!).

Elyse and Derek, thank you so much for trusting us to document this day for you… As you go through these photos, we hope you get to relive the moments and love your day again. It was an awesome one and we could not be happier with how these turned out. It’s been such a joy working with you through your engagement session and all the preparations closer to your big day, your kindness and your care for each other really have touched us and how we wished we could rewind the time and do all of these again. It is a great set of two different seasons that they have but in the end, their “practice” in front of our lenses paid off. They were naturals during the portrait time and we were able to quickly captured all the love they have for each other, packed up and headed to the party!

The internet is a small world for some of us. When Katya and Maksim decided to get married in the city hall, they searched on google for an elopement photographer Toronto and that is how we met! We are so thankful to have met so many sweet couples like these two and work with them for a couple hours documenting their big day. It’s still a big day for us, they got married! With Katya and Maksim, they have an intimate number of guests which includes her mom… More of her in the photos.  Katya and Maksim, thank you for trusting me to document this day for you. The following photos is why we are still photographing weddings even after our first wedding shoot five years ago. I had to hold on my tears as Katya’s mom rose up in the middle of the ceremony to hug her… She was full of joy and so proud of them that it was contagious!

And off to document this special day for them.

Our goal is to document the day and as our couples look through their photos, they remember exactly what they felt at that moment.  And for this reason, we also want our couples to relax and be themselves during our bridal portrait, these two rocked it out!

The Toronto and GTA wedding industry is a huge one and since we moved to Toronto and serving Ontario couples, we have tried our best to be connected and involved with wedding vendors. Just recently, we met with Daria and Kristina who just recently opened Papilio Boutique’s door in St Clair Avenue West neighbourhood. Tell me more about yourselves and your journey of bringing in Papilio into Toronto.

We were in love with the brand for a long time…its unique style, exceptional quality and overall concept – Papilio was established in response to the need for stylish, modern designer wedding & evening gowns at a great price. Striving to look best does not mean you have to spend a lot of money. More and more girls give preference to Papilio rather than expensive dresses with a big name. We both had a lot of evening & cocktail dresses from Papilio Fashion Line, after travelling and shopping in Europe. On every party or special event we got a lot of compliments and questions about our outfits. That’s we decided to bring the brand to Toronto, and started talking to the company…

What got you interested in working in the wedding industry?

It is an amazing experience!!! Every day we meet a lot of interesting people… clients, vendors, learn something new and face different challenges… and, of course, we get to travel to fashion shows & attend a lot of special event. Our families both have retail businesses, e.g. bridal & evening fashion; we spent childhood surrounded by seamstresses, clients, suppliers etc. While watching our mothers working, we gained a lot of experience in the wedding industry.

What is the price range of your collection?

Wedding dresses from Papilio collections range from 850 to 3500 dollars with the average price 1500-2000 dollars. Evening and cocktail dresses range from 350 – 1500 dollars. Girls can hardly believe in prices after trying our dresses. It is widely known that wedding industry in Canada has huge markups. We intentionally looked for cheaper rent, invested reasonable with the company (Papilio), and have reasonable markup. We do not want project high overheads on our clients. We are young, energetic, and believe to build strong brand with good sales volumes.

How far in advance do brides need to book for their appointments?

Most bridal boutiques in Toronto require minimum of 6 months for any special order. Plus don’t forget to add 1-2 months for alterations. During busy season, like November – March, it is highly recommended to book an appointment ahead of time, we would say 1 week in advance. We are always fully booked on weekends.

How many people can brides bring to the appointment?

Shopping for a wedding dress is an great experience for everyone, and something to remember for the rest of your life. We usually recommend inviting only close friends and family. Lets say 4 people max, otherwise the bride gets overwhelmed with opinions, because everyone has a different vision of how she needs to look that day.

What is your most rewarding experience since you opened your door in Toronto three months ago? 

The biggest reward… Our clients become our friends! They ask for our opinion, they trust us… feel comfortable & confident. We do not run after numbers, what we want to provide the experience people always dreamed about or saw in the movies. We want to help our bride to find the right wedding dress that will compliment her body type and make her look stunning. On average we spend about 2 hours with every client. Our goal is not just to sell a dress, but provide a stress-free fun experience and make sure you are happy and confident with your choice.

Sometimes it takes a wedding for some to meet the ones. Aliki started noticing Peter’s glances in the wedding ceremony that they were both part of the bridal party. And it didn’t take long for Aliki to notice that the whole room was in love with Peter and of a great guy he was for making sure everyone was taken care of. At the end of the night, she was sold seeing him dancing. And we quote from Aliki: “A huge part of me is somehow connected to him, our culture… and somehow, our future.”

Ladybug brings good luck and this little one made a special appearance just before Aliki got into her dress. (And it also made sure to make a second appearance on the way back after the ceremony! Aliki and Peter got all the lucks they need for life!)

This one was a funny moment. As she was dressed (and even got her shoes on already), Aliki realized that she still had her yoga pants on! First wedding crisis averted as Sophie, her sister, got in there and took these out. And the next moment is of course, Aliki’s face of: yes, I am ready to get married!!

We made sure to document the parents’ reactions to Aliki walking down the stairs as a bride. And what made this extra special is, Aliki’s dad who worked and renovated this hallway and staircase for his first daughter to walk down on her wedding day… All those minutes, he tried hard to hold back his tears.

While Aliki and the girls were getting ready in her house, Kevin was with Peter and his gents in his parents’ house. We did not know a line dancing would take place until it happened just right then and there! SO fun!

The church was five minutes walk from Peter’s and they took the time walking there. It was a much needed time for this mother and son to share their words and moments before the celebration of the day started.

They were married on a beautiful spring day in Greek Orthodox Church of St. Irene Chrisovalantou. 

These two hugged right after their first kiss and just made us all teary knowing that they were married to their bestest friend. So much joy radiating through them all day long.

We did walk back to Peter’s house and stopped by at Starbucks on the way!

It was a beautiful spring day and it was the first day of the season, weather wise. A couple days before and after were freezing cold! All in all, it was the day that was made for just the two of them. Both of us found them so special and caring and not surprised to see how perfect things turning out for them.

Just look at how perfect the sunset light kissed them in this picture, Palais Royale is totally the venue to get married at by the water!

Loved how relaxed Aliki and Peter are in these pictures. The seagull even made a few appearances on their wedding portraits, including the following photos. the one on the right.

For a wedding day full of cultural happenings as theirs and for a view like this, we are so grateful that these two chose us to be their Palais Royale Toronto wedding photographer.

And when the reception begins… It was a roller coaster of emotions! Going through the photos of the night was incredible as you see laughter and tears of joy everywhere! Aliki and Peter told us that they wanted these moments to be documented so that they get to look back and remember them. Their goal that night is to store up the good energy for the inevitable challenging times in their marriage. With all the love and joy that everyone shared with them that night, these two will definitely overcome anything and everything in front of them!

Peter and Aliki, we know that you are both soaking on the Hawaiian sun, enjoy your time! Thank you for choosing us!

After a success visit and blog response last month on a wedding dress boutique, we relentlessly looked for a wedding vendor to feature in May and on our flight back home from Thailand… We found Delight Floral + Design on Instagram.

Last weekend, Trevor and Hannah were married at Woodside Bible Fellowship and celebrated in Grey Silo Golf Club. While Kevin were with Trevor and the guys at his home, I got to spend some time with Hannah and her beautiful bridesmaids at Firm Foundations. This Waterloo wedding took place on one of the hottest and most humid day this month but we can’t be more thankful on how great this group were for the whole day!

A date jar!! Trevor told us that this is Hannah’s bright idea! We peeked through a few to photograph and that jar… full and rich of great ideas! These love birds are set for a lifetime of awesome dates! Edited, a link to download the date jar idea. 

Thank you Zach (one of Trevor’s groomsmen) who brought us to his cousin’s vintage clothing store so we could do this fun portraits! And thank you Rachel for lending us all the hats and veil from your beautiful store. That is a 1920 bridal veil that Hannah is rocking on!

Throughout the day, we photographed these two in poses and candidly. And Hannah loved giving Trevor a sweet hug at the end of it like this Just love seeing them being this cute together!

And we are off to Grey Silo for continuing the celebration with their family and friends!

To make the couple kiss, guests had to beat either Trevor or Hannah on the assigned challenges. If they win, the two will kiss in public

And if they lost, then Trevor and Hannah will still kiss in private

Over the course of the day, Hannah and Trevor’s family and friends asked us how we know Hannah and they were surprised to hear that we don’t… We were introduced to them through their good friend, Shelly. And we feel more than honoured to learn that everyone in the room except us, know them personally. Trevor and Hannah, thank you for inviting us to document your beautiful day, we’re blessed to have known you on your big day and to be given such an opportunity. Have the best honeymoon!

Grace and Jesse said “I do” in front of their family and friends in a beautiful tent in Hockley Valley Resort.  The sun was shining brightly as they became husband and wife and it was hard to hold back tears during the ceremony. These two met in Grade 12 and for them, they have waited for a long time for this day to come. In their reception speech, they told their guests to really enjoy the night because this is the one and only wedding they will ever have. They plan to be married as long as they live, love it! Grace and Jesse were referred through our friend, Maranda, and we had been looking forward to this wedding since we met them through Skype last year! Ontario is home for these two and they are currently working in Alberta, away from their family and friends. It’s only natural that these two are planning to be home for the wedding! And we can’t be more honour to be chosen to be their wedding photographers!

He smiled big, proud smile as she walked down towards the tent where they were about to get married under. The same smile he had the whole day. The same smile we bet he has every time Tova enters the room. Tova and Grant were married in Tova’s family farm, a beautiful backyard transformed into an enchanted and warm space for their guests to share laughter and stories. This Stouffville backyard wedding was a dream to photograph and we can’t be more thankful to be invited and trusted to do so. It was a warm summer day to start with but these two were champs in walking through the fields and create beautiful memories of their day.

Jackie and Franco met us through the beautiful Hamilton winter wedding of Elyse and Derek (link at the end of this post). A few weeks after the wedding, we met these two again, a little surprised that the wedding would take place on our anniversary weekend and made it official because these two were too adorable to say no to. Back then, we thought “ahhh it’s still eight months away” but how did eight months rolled in so quickly?!

Jackie and France have a love story that are too similar to ours, they met in Grade 11 and Franco knew from day 1 that Jackie is the one. That combined with our wedding anniversary, we gotta make an exception and took them on! We glad we did because these two have a goal of everyone’s having fun and not taking things too seriously on the day. Going through the images and editing them have been such a joy for us both, we hope you enjoy the first half of the day that are captured. Jackie and Franco, it was such a pleasure to be a part of your day. Thank you for trusting us and let us document these in how our eyes saw it. A beautiful day it was, enjoy the sneak peek!

Last weekend, some Toronto ladies had the honour to attend and learn from the talented Sarah Min, the owner of Delight Floral Design. The wreath holiday workshop was held to show the attendees how to make a DIY holiday wreath. Taking place in North York, Delight Floral Design’s beautiful studio, Christmas finally feels real (thanks to the twelve degrees December weather in Toronto that made it hard to believe it’s actually nearing the end of the year)!

Steffie from Steffies Sweets and Treats was there to indulge the attendees with the breathtaking and yummy treats. Thanks, Steffie!

The event was sponsored by Shop For Jayu which made it easy for us to do our Christmas shopping during the workshop. Check out their website and do your Christmas shopping today!

The attendees were hard at work, creating their best pieces to take home!  We are done, yay!

One of our favourite things to do is to read the couple’s questionnaire that our couples filled in so we got to know them better. Wedding day is a very personal day and we’ve testified again and again that each and every one of them are unique. Learning about our couples in advance has has given us the opportunity to document what matters most to them on the day. We remember the day Eric sent back the couple questionnaire for us to read and boy, it was definitely the best we’ve received so far in terms of how detailed their personal stories and details written out! Ever since then, we’ve been impatiently waiting for their big day to arrive. We know we’ll enjoy documenting their day and we certainly had one of the best wedding days ever two weeks ago!

How these two met was certainly out of the ordinary. Eric was invited by two of his friends to their dorm room to watch The O.C with a bunch of their friends. This is where Eric met Alix and found out that he was attracted to her. He flirted with her and she liked it and… the rest is history. These two made their questionnaire so personal and we love how they said: we are a true balance of each other. We bring out the others strength and rise above the weaknesses. Throughout the planning process, we saw how they completed each other and divided the task and responsibility and throughout the big day, we saw their loving look to each other. We have started noticing the love that lasts and we see this in them. Alix and Eric, thank you for trusting us to come alongside your wedding planning and documenting this day for you.
