Toronto Wedding Photography: Wedding Album

Kevin and I still look through our wedding album once every three months (more often than that in the summer!). Part of it was because we love the photos so much and there were times that we were about to shoot a wedding that we felt the couple really likes us and our style. What would be the perfect reminder of our style other than our wedding photos which we LOVED so much! We count ourselves blessed that as we progress through the years of shooting weddings, we have had 90% of our couples opted for getting a photobook or album after their wedding day. At the end of the day, Kevin and I love what we do and feel grateful that so many couples have trusted us to document their day. But for them to print and get their wedding pictures shown on pages of a book, instead of just staying on a harddrive, we cannot be happier that they chose to do this and remember their day through an tangible format.

This rustic countryside wedding is easily one of our favourites and we love getting this album in the mail last summer. It takes awhile until we blogged the beauty of this book but we have had our hands on more of this album as our couples also love it so much during the client meeting and always opted for it. Enjoy this album feature and please let us know if you have any questions about it, we’ll be more than happy to dig your wedding photos from five or six years ago and get them printed on a book like this for you!

Scott and Elizabeth tied the knot n one of the most beautiful days last summer at The Doctor’s House, Kleinburg. Kevin and I are privileged to be invited to document one of the biggest days that our couples celebrated and as beautiful as all the weddings we photographed, one speech or one part of the day will always stick with us. It is always something about the couple, what other people think about them individually and together. On Elizabeth and Scott’s wedding, we were blessed to meet again with David who was in Sean and Francesca’s wedding last year. And while officiating the ceremony, David said something along this line: “I always send out a questionnaire to my couples to understand who they are and their expectations of the wedding day. When reading Scott and Elizabeth’s questionnaire, I feel this couple makes sense. They understand what life is. They understand the role they hold to each other and to their loved ones. I rarely meet couples like this and I am honored to be officiating their union today.” It was so true. Even during the speeches at night, there were moments I had to hold my tears back knowing these two beautiful souls are meant for each other and so loved by everyone around them. It is rare to find people who share the same value and commitment to each other. If you find one, I would suggest to hold on to him/her tightly. To Scott and Elizabeth, I wish you all the best the marriage journey and life have to offer to you both. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful day and being yourselves throughout the day and thank you Maranda for inviting me to this lovely couple.

Amy and Victor got married in Toronto City Hall with their loved ones who come from different countries to witness their joyful celebration. I was really glad when these two told me that they opted to see each other before the ceremony, there is always the special and intimate moments of the bride and groom as they see each other for the first time before the ceremony. A city hall wedding is not complete without a short trip to the Osgoode Hall for some wedding photos. That morning, we had an experience like no other and had the place to ourselves for the duration that we were there. And these two shared even more laughter and intimate moments as we document their first hour of being husband and wife.

We had the honour of documenting Kim and Dan’s engagement party last week. We first met them probably three years in Carly and Jon’s engagement party. Love having a circle of friends celebrating and documenting their milestones in life. We started the celebration with beautiful portraits of the two of them around Stonefire and seriously, it looks like we are in a beautiful park for this session! Congratulations Kim and Dan, enjoy the preview!

It’s so great to see familiar faces and see how the younger ones are now teenagers! 🙂

Much love,

Jenn

Richmond Green Park Wedding Photos: Jackie + Matt // Anniversary Session

When people found  love, some did not get to be together right away. Jackie and Matt met through Jackie’s older brother. The two guys met on Nike Talk and shared their love for sneakers. Matt became a part of her family and they met at her family events quite a bit. But some loves, did not get to be with each other right away as both Jackie and Matt were dating other people at that moment.

Many years later, Jackie was single and Matt just got out of a long term relationship. It did not take long until they were together. Shortly after that, Matt moved to NYC for work and they went through a long-distance relationship for three years.

In April 2013, Matt proposed and they decided to get married three months later as he knew it was important for Jackie’s ill mother to see them getting married. They planned a wedding in three weeks and had an intimate wedding surrounded by 20 of their closest family and friends.

When people found  love, some did not get to be together right away. One week after the wedding, Jackie moved to Vancouver for work and they spent the first year of their marriage apart. As we spent some time walking around the park for this shoot, Matt told me that the hardest part is the three-hour time difference for them as the day started earlier for him and Jackie wasn’t even awake yet. By the time Jackie finishes her day, it was time for Matt to be in bed.

I didn’t know their story until a couple days before our shoot and Jackie said that she knew he was the one on their first date… While he knew it from the first time they met…When people found  love, some did not get to be together right away. But the one that Jackie and Matt found was worth the wait.

Congratulations you two on your seventh year anniversary and thank you for choosing me to document this for you! It is truly an honour and I hope you love this set as much as I do!

Much love,

Jenn

OLD MILL WEDDING PHOTOS: XIAOKUN AND YANG

There are weddings that make you feel grateful that you are trusted to be a part of it. Xiaokun’s and Yang’s is one of them. They only chose a handful of people to witness their union and celebrate their new milestone. For an outsider to come in and be a part of this family that day, it was beyond words. It was a wedding where you know everyone at the end of it. A wedding where two families become one and everyone who attended are a part of this big family. Here is a snippet of their Old Mill wedding photos on a beautiful spring day.

They opted for a first look which turns out to be a beautiful and emotional moments for the two of them (and the person behind the camera!)

The bride and Maid of Honour ordered the flowers for the reception through Rachelle in Botany Floral Studio. Being a very talented team, they assembled and created all of the centrepieces in the dining room. The flowers definitely gave a lot of colour and joy to the Old Mill’s Oak Room that day!

Wedding Venue: Old Mill Toronto (Wedding Chapel and Oak Room)

A few weeks ago, we had the honour of documenting Su Hyeon and Dawoon’s big day. A little over a year ago, Dawoon contacted us through Flytographer and we came to the first spot of their first date and documented their sweet, sweet engagement. Fast forward to September 2017, we are witnessing them tying the knot.

Su Hyeon’s father labored the whole summer to create the most beautiful backyard/wedding venue for this lovely bird. And for years, we’ve been hoping that we would photograph a bride in a BHLDN wedding dress. These two went down to New York and brought back the most beautiful, floral wedding dress we’ve ever seen.

During the whole wedding, we didn’t understand much of the conversations but we felt all the love and joy for the big day and for these loveliest couple. Dawoon’s parents flew in all the way from Korea as well as Su Hyeon’s grandma and cousin. Everyone was so welcoming that we felt like we were apart of their family at the end of the day. Su Hyeon and Dawoon, all the best in your marriage, we hope you enjoy Bali and the following sneak peeks of your day:

This BHLDN dress has to be used for as many things as possible. Such as a ring holder with the help of Su Hyeon’s bridesmaid.

Catching Su Hyeon being excited to the first look spot. The light that day agreed on how gorgeous she looks like as a bride… <3

The chairs are rental but the arch is hand made by the bride’s dad and the decorations are by the bride’s family. All made by love for the loveliest couples.

Even after a first look, the moments between these two during walking down the aisle still caught our heart… So much joy and love.

Married!

The bride’s mother cooked 95% of the reception meal and still be present on the wedding day.. Much appreciation and salute to a mother’s love!

A must-have Oppa Gangnam style dancing! So glad it happened early in the night so we can experience it first hand!

Alena and Kyle’s day is beyond words.

1. How did you meet? Tell me your story?
Kyle and I actually met through the “dating app” Tinder. It’s funny actually, because I had been stood up the night before and was so upset. So the following morning, myself and my two best friends were lying in bed waiting to go to the Toronto Beer Festival at Brickworks. While lying in bed, we were all on my tinder account right swiping possible “distraction candidates” and too my surprise, I swiped Kyle and we were a match. Ironically, it was Kyle’s best friends who were on his account the night before, and were actually the ones who swiped my profile. It was not until we were matched on the dating app, that Kyle reached out (according to him, it was my smile that caught his attention) and started chatting. We have spoken every single day, since that fateful morning lying in bed with my two best friends!

2. What was it about your fiancé that attracted you to him in the first place?
To be honest, there was so much about Kyle that caught my attention. I think first and for most, were his eyes. He has the most honest, genuine (and incredibly sexy) eyes! From the time I met him, there was something about the way he listened. It was with full attention and compassion! Did I mention when he laughs, he gets this little twinkle in his eye that’s full of love (that’s probably the thing I’ve easily grown to love the most). I also remember on our first date (to Jack Astors), he loved talking about his family and as soon as we grew closer, he spoke about my family in the same way, which was so important to me!

3. Who popped the question? And how?

Kyle popped the question, September 23 last year. It was honestly a whirlwind of an amazing week! We booked a last minute trip to California because after years of trying, I finally got Ellen Degeneres tickets. We have both loved her forever, however I absolutely love her. I thought it was going to be the best part of the trip, it was actually just the bonus. When Kyle found out we got tickets, he started the planning and completely blew me out of the water. It was our second last night in California and Kyle had planned this fancy night for us. I had no idea what to expect. We ended up at the Newport Beach Canal, where there was a private Gondola fresh from Venice Italy, waiting for us. It had rose pedals, wine, oh my goodness it was absolutely beautiful. Our gondola driver (?) served us a delicious dinner, right at sunset and took us around the canal, it was stunning! I still had no idea what was going on, the only thought I had was, “if I were to get engaged tonight, how would I feel about my outfit?” ha! As we were coming to a round about, the individual taking us around, told me to look in the water, when I did- there was a bottle floating at the top with a letter. I fished it out, and being the oblivious individual that I am, started talking about how friendly and welcoming this service was (thinking it was just a thank you letter). Kyle was silent, sitting beside me and told me to open it, when I did. I had the one reaction I never imagined I could have had, I started BALLING my eyes out and just hugged Kyle and was so unbelievably thankful that I never had to let go of him! The best part about this whole memory, is that I was SO excited I didn’t even wait for him to ask, I just said yes and kept hugging him. When I finally let go, I looked down and there was the most beautiful ring. Everything that I could have asked for and more. He completely amazed me! When we got back to the hotel, he let me know that both my dad and sister were waiting for a call from me. I loved that they were part of the process! One last thing that makes this one of the best memories I will ever have and sums us up so well, because I didn’t give him the chance to actually ask, when we got to the hotel, I asked if he could get down one knee and ask me. It was the best!

Much love,

Jenn and Kevin

Chelsea and Stephen’s wedding is one of the weddings we have been waiting patiently for this year. Exactly a year ago, the weekend of their wedding, we shot their engagement shoot in Elmira. It was a historical house and it holds so much memories for Chelsea and her family. Continuing with their rustic and elegant engagement photos, their wedding theme throughout the day bring everything to another level. For us, these details are beautiful and exciting to photograph. But working with the two of them are the highlights of our year. Chelsea and Stephen, thank you for being the kindest and most considerate bride and groom. We enjoy celebrating with you and your family this fall. We feel that we are a part of your family even from the beginning of the day. We are cherishing this sneak peeks and we hope you love them as much as we do.

Love looking at this silly groomsmen shot that Stephen and his men pulled out:

We are really hoping one of the groomsmen pulled out an inappropriate joke here, not us. We honestly can’t remember anymore but love their genuine laughs.

Much love,

Jenn and Kevin

North York Engagement Session: Restoration Hardware in Yorkdale

We had the joy and pleasure to work and collaborate along side Alana and Sarah, her assistant, last year. Thanks to Marley who connected us with this pretty lady! You can find Marley and Ben’s wedding here and published on Elegant Wedding magazine! Last month, we had the pleasure of walking around Restoration Hardware with her and found out that this space is a great spot for a North York engagement session.

Towards the beginning of last summer, Alana and us worked on a beautiful Kortright’s Enchanted Forest shoot that got published on Style Me Pretty. To sum up, all of our works together… Got published! We encourage you to go over the link above to look at her talents and her team who whipped a magical editorial sets!

When Alana told us that she is renewing her website and is in need of some head shots… We just had to jump in. We read last year that Restoration Hardware is opening their store slash restaurant in Yorkdale. We have been in their Chicago’s location and cannot miss the one in our hometown, Toronto. We took Alana’s headshots here and had a ton of fun with their different rooms and hallways. How we wished that we lived in this space…

Restoration Hardware in Yorkdale does not disappoint. We saw a lot of potentials for it being a North York engagement session location and more. With how busy the restaurant is, we would recommend doing it during a weekday morning (10:00 AM sharp!). The crowd started to come in around 10:30 and the line up started around 11:00. During the weekend, however, we heard that you needed to RSVP in advance to even get a spot for brunch!

Last fall, we had the pleasure to work with Elegant Wedding magazine, The Arlington Estate, Inspire Event Rental and so many talented Toronto wedding vendors for this magazine spread. The theme was Caramelo and it’s a beautiful caramel sunset wedding inspiration. The Arlington Estate wedding is a gorgeous, brand new wedding venue in the Greater Toronto Area. It is a modern, French -inspired, and it is one of a kind in this area. Head over to Elegant Wedding feature, here.

This wedding invitation and stationary are beautifully designed by the ladies in Pretty in Print.

All of the furniture, table and chairs are provided by the venue so this is a great start for your wedding planning. Couples often had to budget into renting furnitures if the available ones are out of fashion or in a limited number.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Wedding Photos

We have been waiting to share these wedding photos for over two weeks now! And in January, we had been waiting to shoot this wedding for nine months! I think everytime someone asks, when is your next travel? We immediately jumped to this January wedding in Mexico! And the fact that… We have never been to Mexico before! So here are our Royalton Riviera Cancun wedding photos of these lovelies.

Jack and Christy are one of the most genuine couples we have known and worked with. Our first meeting with them was through Skype (it was Kevin’s first time but Jenn was in Bali last year with them for their engagement shoot :)). Their wedding was a testimony of how genuine they are and how people from all over the world flew to Mexico to witness their union. Their beautiful wedding ceremony took place at Royalton Riviera Cancun’s sky terrace.
These sweethearts first met in University of Waterloo in their second year. They sang duet as strangers in a birthday party but apparently, Jack has stalked Christy across all over social media and she was not a stranger to him anymore. There was no meeting or follow up after this birthday party but in their final year, the stars were aligned to unite them.
They bumped into each other at the back of a lecture hall (of 200+ people!), did a group assignment together and like every story says, the rest was history. They hung out a lot more as friends and when they graduated a year later, Jack asked Christy out on a “date” to pick out gifts for his family in Yorkdale. Just before he left for work in China, he finally asked her to do a long distance relationship.
